Burgess Sports works to provide every child a great start in life. Its vision is to create a better everyday life for underprivileged families. The organisation’s holistic approach works with children and the support systems around them: inspiring children, developing young people, supporting parents, and creating community.
The Project
Burgess Sports will train 24 teenage volunteers as Park Activators so they can lead physical activity sessions for younger children on its South East London holiday programmes.
The Issue
Burgess Sports works with children and families around the Aylesbury Estate in South East London, where inequality limits access to safe, structured physical activity.
The Project
The grant funds accredited Streetgames Park Activator training for 24 young people aged 13-17, building on 12 years of experience developing local volunteers into leaders and role models.
The Impact
Newly trained young Ambassadors will go on to help deliver Burgess Sports’ year-round holiday camps, which currently reach hundreds of local children each year.
