Warley Rugby Football Club is a community-focused sports club based in Oldbury, Sandwell. Our purpose is to use rugby as a vehicle to improve the lives of people within our local community by providing accessible opportunities for participation, personal development, health improvement and social connection.
The Project
Warley RFC will launch a new Mini and Junior rugby section in Sandwell, one of England’s most deprived areas, backed by school outreach coaching and subsidised membership.
The Issue
Rugby has almost no presence in Sandwell’s schools, and financial hardship and limited access to affordable activity keep many local children out of organised sport altogether.
The Project
The project will deliver school outreach coaching, subsidised membership and equipment to establish a sustainable Mini and Junior rugby section.
The Impact
Within 24 months, Warley RFC expects to have reached 500 pupils through outreach and built a regular section of at least 100 participants aged 5-16.
