Aid Connect for Development (AIDCODE) was established in September 2018. We work directly in communities to promote gender equality and open up opportunities for women, girls, young people and others who are often left out, building safer, healthier communities across Nigeria.
The Project
AIDCODE will engage 80 underserved women in Bauchi, Nigeria, in structured boxing and football sessions, working with local stadiums and the Northeast Boxing Federation.
The Issue
Cultural norms, safety concerns and a lack of women-only spaces keep most women in Bauchi out of organised sport, leaving local stadiums and a community boxing ring largely unused by women.
The Project
Empower-HER Active will train 80 women aged 18–40 across two streams of boxing and football, delivered twice weekly at partner facilities over six months.
The Impact
The project targets a 75% retention rate, building confidence, self-defence skills and a lasting culture of women’s sports participation in the town.
