The Martin Moran Foundation inspires people through the power of mountain adventure, climbing and community in wild places. With the help of teachers and leaders from schools and organisations across the UK, it offers fully-funded places on its programmes to young adults with a passion for the mountains but without the support and financial resources to access them.
The Project
The Martin Moran Foundation will run a fully-funded week-long mountain adventure course in the Cairngorms for disadvantaged young people facing financial hardship, mental health challenges or displacement.
The Issue
Many young people who could benefit most from mountain adventure cannot access it due to financial hardship, mental health challenges or other barriers, and rarely get to try climbing, hillwalking or scrambling in a supported setting.
The Project
The foundation will run a fully-funded, instructor-led week in the Cairngorms combining hillwalking, climbing and personal development for around 10 nominated young people, building on a previous course with strong outcomes for a similarly diverse group.
The Impact
Participants are expected to gain lasting confidence and outdoor skills, joining an ongoing community of over 50 alumni who continue to support one another.
