The Back Up Trust’s vision is a world where everyone affected by spinal cord injury can reach their full potential, and works alongside people and families to rebuild confidence and independence after spinal cord injury.
The Project
Back Up will deliver peer-led wheelchair skills sessions and a residential multi-activity course, helping people affected by spinal cord injury build the confidence and skills to get back outdoors.
The Issue
Many people with spinal cord injury find that everyday obstacles like kerbs, uneven ground and public transport become barriers to recreation and community life after they leave hospital.
The Project
Back Up will run peer-led wheelchair and powerchair skills sessions and deliver a residential multi-activity course, giving participants hands-on practice navigating real-world obstacles alongside people with similar experience.
The Impact
This gives participants a route to confident, independent outdoor and community activity, backed by peer support from others who have been through the same experience.
